A High-Octane Friendship Test

The TV show “Ride or Die” is full of action and adventure. It focuses on an unexpected side of an unexpected best friend: Judith is an assassin. Of course, her friend, Debbie, has no idea about any of this. Judith is normal, but she has a secret life. The story begins when Judith’s mission goes wrong and now both of them are running for their lives and trying to escape an enemy. Although they’ll need to work together, this new enemy has their friendship on edge. Certain elements of the show can be funny even though this show is focused on a deadly serious topic (a best friend being an assassin). Throughout the show, the writers use some of their favorite elements of binge-worthy television: relationship, trust, and best friend goals wrapped with a murderous bow. It’s a must watch to see how the friendship is challenged after a best friend becomes an assassin.

Star Power and Synergistic Performances

The casting for “Ride or Die” is impressive. Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham give knockout performances and establish magnetic characters on screen. Their chemistry creates a buddy format that is the emotional core of the series. Waddingham as Judith shows the complexity of being an assassin, by being stoic at times and being vulnerable and exasperated all containing the duality of their characters and the clashing of these two worlds. The chemistry between the two characters and the easy comfort is entertaining to watch as the dynamic takes them to the edge of being in an adversarial relationship to a real partnership and closeness. The series enhances its entertainment with its focus on central pair and their sharp wit. The performances by the leads and supporting Bill Nighy elevate the series. The series winds through the main and supporting casts capturing the true hearts on screen with quick pace and direction by Tessa Coates.

Many point out the friendships built in the series and how the friendship elevates all other aspects of the series. Even though audiences haven’t rated this CocoFlix series, the early consensus around the series is that this show achieves what it sets out to do, that is, be fun and light, and advance the characters.
